Relive the glorious past at The Poovath Beach Front Heritage, one of the best beach resorts in Fort Kochi with EVC station from the colonial era. It stands by bewitching Arabian Sea in Fort Kochi on the south west coast of India. Fort Kochi also known as ‘Queen of the Arabian Sea’ is a laid back coastal town with a colonial past.
Vestiges of Portuguese, Dutch, and British (in that order) colonialism lie scattered apart from the religious influences like synagogues, churches and so on. But long before them, the Arabs and the Chinese and even the Greeks traded with Kochi. So, it is aptly said to be the cultural crossroads. For those with a penchant for history, Poovath and the surroundings will have much to say.
The breezy balcony makes for an ideal location for breakfast and sundowners. One could also request a meal to be served at any part of the hotel with prior reservations.
The Verandah on the ground floor provides an idyllic setting for informal “at home” dining experience
The menu at Poovath is a fine selection of Kerala, Continental, and Dutch cuisine. The “catch of the day” is a must-do at Poovath. One has the option of grilled, bar-be-qued, steamed fresh seafood.
The hotel is beautiful with traditional architecture and a nice view of the sea. The staff is very helpful and accommodating, always ready to guide us with information or any other aid required. The food was tasty, the rooms were great and we were in a splendid location. All in all, an amazing trip.
The hotel is a lovely, spacious, well done restoration with very comfortable and well appointed rooms as well as lots of open air spaces and views of the sea for the visitors. Breakfast on the veranda is also lovely and tasty, whether Continental or Indian cuisine. The staff are attentive and gracious, and the grounds and pool well cared for and maintained.
